- navigate most of the website using a keyboard

How accessible this website is
A full accessibility audit of this website was completed on 2 April 2026. The audit covered automated testing (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 AA ruleset) and manual testing of keyboard navigation, focus visibility, heading structure, colour contrast, landmark regions, image alt text, link text quality, and touch target sizes.
Two issues were identified during the audit and fixed immediately:
- ARIA landmark labelling — a contact details section in the page header was labelled with
aria-labelbut lacked the requiredrole="region"attribute. This has been corrected. - Links opening in a new tab without warning — the eConsult button and the NHS Inform self-help guide link both opened in a new tab without notifying screen reader users. Both now include a screen-reader notice.
The website is currently considered fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard for the pages tested, subject to the exemptions listed below.
